In 1999, SPI was asked to troubleshoot and identify solutions to resolve hydraulic problems in one of the first municipal membrane bioreactors (MBR) in the US. That initial study effort, lead SPI into the treatment of wastewater using membrane bioreactor technology. Since that time, SPI has expanded our knowledge of wastewater treatment and membrane bioreactors by participating in the study, procurement, design, construction, startup, training, and operations support of over 15 membrane bioreactor treatment projects. The most visible projects being the City of Healdsburg, California which has a MBR with a Cannibal Process®, Cabezon and Mariposa Water Reclamation Facilities in Rio Rancho, New Mexico which received an award for Design Build Project of the Year; Bullhead City Wastewater Treatment Plant and the Evergreen Valley Utilities Water Reclamation Facility in Ronald, Washington. SPI is especially well suited to assist agencies with the selection and design of MBR wastewater treatment process.
