The water plant provides a supply of high-quality drinking water for the southern neighborhoods of the City treating Salt River Project Water utilizing flocculation with ferric chloride followed by microfiltration and granular activated carbon for arsenic, organics and taste and odor removal. The project included a extensive pilot program to evaluate the latest technologies for surface water treatment.

SPI prepared the conceptual design and process evaluation, guided the membrane system pilot testing, developed the membrane procurement documents and assisted with the procurement of the membrane equipment , and reviewed detailed plans and specifications for the complete membrane system.
